2010
Student Farewell
Our
2010 Inbound Students from the northern hemisphere were presented
with their exchange certificates and enjoyed an evening with
their host families and counsellor where we heard about their
wonderful year in New Zealand and many of the special moments
they had on their exchange.

2010
Challenge Week
Our
Inbound Students were part of the team that assisted with
this years Challenge Camp. This is a 5 day residential program
for physically challenged youth. The week offers many social
and educational activities with activities such as climbing
and archery combined with motivational speakers and social
events. The week was one of the highlights of the exchnage
year for the participating students.

D9920
Rotary Conference
D9920
Conference was held in Hastings and our inbound students
opened the formal conference sessions by parading in the flags
of their respective countries and then gave a presentation
sharing aspects of their exchnage with conference delegats.
The session was on of the highlights of the weekend. The students
were treated to excellent presentations from the conference
speakers and then participated in the formal closing of the
conference on Sunday.
South
Island Trip 2010
D9920
inbound students joined with students from Rotary District
9910 for the annual South Island Trip which is part of the
Inbound Student program
A
contingent of students enjoyed the adventure which over 21
days took them around the South Island from Abel Tasman Park,
to Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mount Cook and Christchurch.
There were many exciting activities included Kayaking, Trail
Biking, Bungy Jumping, and LOTS of fun.

2009
Rebound Students
Our
2009 Outbound students arrived back form their exchange in
January and caught up with each other for the exchange Debrief
meeting. There was much conversation and many stories to be
told. The common theme was that it was a great year away with
so many new experiences and many friends made from all around
the world

2010
Outbound Students
Our
2009 Outbound students departed from Auckland Airport on 20
January. This years students will spend their year in Canada
and Europe and South America. The students spent a few days
in Los Angeles before travelling on to their host countries
where they began this experience of a life time.

Auckland
Day 2009
Auckland
day introduces our inbound and outbound students to many of
the civic functions of Auckland city - Morning tea with the
mayor, a visit to police headquarters and a Maori cultural
group performance at the War Memorial Museum. These interesting
visits familiarise our students with their city and also engender
an awareness of the support services that are available.

Marae
Weekend 2009
Our
annual Marae weekend was held at Ruapotaka Marae. The Inbound
and Outbound students were treated to a Maori cultural experience
commencing with a Powhiri and then various cultural activities
which included flax weaving, Waiata's, and a Haka. Outbound
parents joined the students on the Sunday for a welcome on
to the marae and the chance for the students to perform some
of their new found maori cultural items. The weekend then
concluded with a briefing on travel and insurance matters
for outbound students. Our very special thanks to Kaumatua
Jim Pene from the Ruapotaka Marae.

2009
Inbound Student Orientation
Welcome
to our 2009 Inbound students. Our recently arrived inbound
students gathered for the first time to meet each other and
for an orientation meeting to outline the districts exchange
programme. It was a good opportunity to get to know the other
students in the district and also to spend time with the students
counsellors who will be an important part of their year in
D9920.

2009
Selection Weekend
Selection
Weekend was held at the Kokako Lodge. The applicants for 2010
exchanges were joined by the Inbound Students and returned
exchange students. It was another excellent opportunity for
young people from New Zealand and Overseas to meet and discover
the many things that they have in common. The exchange applicants
were briefed on the Youth Exchange Program and provided with
information and tips essential for a successful exchange

Exchange
Student Reunion
A
group of rebounders from 2003 to 2007 together with the inbounders
in April to share their exchange experiences and maintain
that common bond of a Rotary Exchange. A most entertaining
evening with many stories told - but were they all true?
